Three Decades

By Katie Cardinal

Thirty years ago to the day today, one of the greatest men to ever walk the Earth was born. Though I wouldn't know him for another 8 or so years, he has made me into the person I am today. Hearing stories of how he wanted me to be a boy so badly and was actually upset when he found out that I was a girl is so surprising to me because today he treats me like an absolute princess. As all of us know, KJ is one of, if not THE nicest, funniest, and caring individuals we've ever met. He's always there to lend a helping hand, always there to be that shoulder to cry on, and of course always there to provide the SoCo to get pretty tanked on a random Friday night.

My fondest brother-sister bonding experience was definitely the time KJ and I went to Boston for St. Patty's Day last year. We decided just to make it a brother/sister event, and boy wasn't it crazy! We embarked our drinking extravaganza at 10 am...he had a Guinness and I had a Long Island Iced Tea...and our day got progressively worse (or better?) from there. We drank ourselves silly until about 11 pm when KJ's more than awesome wife came to pick us up on the streets of Boston. I must say, though I threw up approximately 15 times the next day, it was all worth it. Anyone who's lucky enough to get a whole day of KJ's undivided attention is the luckiest girl in the world.

So Happy Birthday to you, KJ! I hope you have the best birthday in the world and win BIG in Vegas...you deserve it!

  4. I swear that if I had to name one thing that makes me the happiest it would be how close all of my children are with each other. I really don't know if it had to do with how we raised you or not but it is one of my true blessings in my life. Thanks of the happiness...Love Mom
