Classic KIMism

By K.J. Cardinal

It's not every day that you are fortunate enough to experience a KIMism in person (unless you're my Mom), but boy oh boy was I treated to one while camping with my parents last week... and I have audio to prove it!

[If you're not a long-time follower of The Cardinal Blog, then you probably have no idea what a KIMism is... well, read the original post here.]

Anyway, this gem occurred while my Dad was playing his guitar as we sat around the campfire. For me, this was a real cool set of songs by my Dad because it was a lot of stuff I hadn't heard him play in years.

After listening to a cool version of "Don't let the sun catch you crying", made famous by Gerry & the Pacemakers in the mid-60s, he let out this priceless nugget (WARNING: a little 'choice' language).

I had to leave a little of our reaction in there because that part cracked me up too. There was about a one-second pause and then I start giggling like a school girl.

There are seriously no two people on this planet that Angie and I would rather hang out with than my parents. And that's a fact... especially if KIMisms are gonna be thrown around.

Anna turns two

By K.J. Cardinal

My baby... well, she's not a baby anymore.

The age of two is really the point in my mind when I feel that kids become kids and they are no longer babies or infants. She's a kid.

This realization saddens me quite a bit and, for some reason, every one of Anna's age-related milestones seem to turn more and more introspective for me. I mean this day is definitely all about her, but I can't help but think of how much she means to me, how much she has changed me and how much she motivates me.

The impact that Anna has had on my life is unfathomable... I couldn't imagine how I'd feel if I actually gave birth to her.

Anyway, Anna dove head first into her third year of life, literally. This morning, Anna went "ass over tea-kettle" (definitely a Kimism) as she fell down three stairs before Angie caught her.

Despite landing on her face (don't worry, Meme, she's OK), Anna got up and asked Ang to kiss her finger... so we knew she wasn't hurt that badly.

I guess the "terrible twos" have officially arrived. Excuse me while I batten down the hatches.

KIMisms

By K.J. Cardinal

In a post I did a while back entitled "Cereal: Day 2", I referenced a "wonderful little quip" that my Dad sometimes says, "it was like shoveling shit against the tide." Very fitting for the occasion.

Anyway, from that day on, I began compiling a list of all the wonderful little quips that my Dad has said throughout my life and figured that I really needed to dedicate a post to these sayings, which from here on out I will refer to as "KIMisms". I know that you may have heard some of these KIMisms before, so I'm not saying my Dad made all of these up himself, but rather that he has perfected the use of them and seems to have a bottomless vault of these in his arsenal that he can pull out at anytime.

So without further ado, here are a list of KIMisms - beware they are unedited in my attempt to "keep it real":
- It's like shoveling shit against the tide.
- The only good cat is a dead cat.
- Wound up tighter than an eight-day clock.
- Busier than a one-armed paper hanger.
- It's like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.
- You'll shit too if you eat regular.
- I made out like a bandit.
- Just like a limp dick, can't beat it.
- I'm double-oh H (out of here).
- Dropped your watch (he says this when you're hands are full carrying a bunch of things)
- Neater than a beater.
- Shit-can it.
- Wound for sound.
- That's slick as shit.

I'm sure there are plenty that I'm forgetting, so if you know of a KIMism that I'm missing, please post it in a comment. Also, I have to thank Tiffany and Katie for their help in coming up with this list...they had some doozies I was forgetting.
